Amerant Bank Receives Bank Member of Excellence Award at 2023 Sunshine Awards
Organized by the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the awards honor companies that have made significant contributions to their community
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2023) – Amerant Bank, the largest community bank headquartered in Florida, is proud to announce that it has been awarded the “Bank Member of Excellence Award” at the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s (SFLHCC) 2023 Sunshine Awards.
Amerant Bank was bestowed the Bank Member of Excellence Award in recognition of its unwavering dedication to the communities it serves and its robust focus on promoting diversity and inclusivity.

Award winners are chosen by the SFLHCC’s President and CEO, Lily Lopez, in conjunction with the Board, after careful consideration of the submitted candidates.
“In September 2021, Kristy Amaro was appointed by Amerant CEO Jerry Plush as the Bank’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, spearheading the ‘I Belong’ initiative,” said Lopez. “This program served as a comprehensive transfoFINALrmation of the bank’s approach to DE&I, acknowledging, celebrating, and nurturing opportunities for the growth of all team members and the communities the bank serves. Through initiatives such as diverse hiring practices, inclusive policies, community engagement, and organizational outreach, the Bank has been fortifying its internal mission and playing a pivotal role in the lives of its team members.”
