Financial Standout: Tairis Alsina

Banking is very transactional for some, but Tairis Alsina views each client’s financial journey as a relationship that deserves to be nurtured over time. She and her team at Amerant Bank are committed to delivering consistent, high-quality financial solutions to clients with varying individual needs.

“Creating a family-oriented work environment is one of my keys to success and Amerant Bank has helped nourish this type of environment.”

As an immigrant from Cuba, Tairis Alsina grew up in a household where her parents told their children to be thankful that they were living in America – the land of opportunities. “Their struggle encouraged me to become an independent and entrepreneurial person,” she says. “My first job was at the age of 13. At 16 years of age, I began my own business; I would sell clothing at local flea markets that was handcrafted by my mother and grandmother.”

She was a professional ballet dancer and back up dancer for Celia Cruz, purchased her first home at the age of 18, and married during high school. Being the mother of two wonderful daughters and later in life a stepmother of 4 has pushed her to be the best she can be for them.

When she was a student at at Hialeah High School, they had had a visitor on Career Day who spoke about the bank she worked at. “I fell in love with banking,” she says. “I began working as a bank teller while I was in school and have worked in numerous financial institutions across multiple lines of business over the years. This demonstrates the importance of having our educators take the time to help students pursue their career dreams.” Now Senior Vice President and Head of Private Banking at Amerant Bank, she nurtures the career paths of her team and assists clients in every step of their financial journey.
